Entirely hand stitched white cotton petticoat. Elaborate, large-scale broderie anglaise center panel, with satin stitched details. Two borders go around remainder of skirt, with two inserted bands of folded tape ‘ricrac.’ Name stenciled on front waistband: “Mary J. Brown” Appears likely that its fullness was redistributed around the waistband from the front toward the back.Collection
