Description

Entirely hand-stitched waistcoat made of matelassé cotton. The design is of rosebud motifs in soft red and gold within big and small cartouches. Medium opening. Medium shawl collar with slightly greater width toward the bottom. 5 flat self buttons. Shaped side seams, sit a little over the waist with a downward curve in the front. Side darts from the bottom. 2 narrow pocket welts from side seams. small same on proper left. All edges are topstitched. Lining and back of white plain woven cotton, lining left free of front armscyes for removable padding. No pleat in the back. The bottom edge is virtually straight across. Straps extend from seams, one has a brass buckle.
