G2008.122Description
Reticule of bright berlin wools worked on canvas in a box form. The design is a series of stripes arranged in ombre, but not rainbow, fashion: blues, reds, purples, greens and so on. Each corner has a different pattern worked in contrasting colors with cut steel bead accents. The top has a border of the ombre colors on the diagonal with cut steel beads separating the hues. The heavy silk cord is composed of brown, yellow, and 2 shades of blue twisted together. The heavy metallic gold tassel looks to have been appropriated from a military uniform- perhaps a sword or sash. Lined with sky blue silk. "Attached inked note reads: Mrs. William J.
