Description

Fine cream colored, heavy cotton tape with ‘lining’ or backing, well-wrapped wires. Pleated frill across dimity bottom front panel. Fullness in back, bottom “kicks” out, supported with a vertical steel. Large printed label stitched into waistband front reads: “Style FASHION SOCIETY BUSTLE --- The B.V. D. Duplex or Double Lined Tape Skirt Manufactured Solely and Exclusively by Bradley, Voorhees & Day Manuf’g Co., (Limited) New York. Patented August 1, 1876”. Also gives description. Stamped in purple “Sarah Bernhardt”Used with dress #99.005 although Sandy says they were not purchased at same time. (Auction)
