Description

Pair of women’s shoes, straights, high Louis heel arching smoothly into the sole with rounded pointed toe. Conical vamp extending into high, broad square tongue. Two latchets for buckle. Soft golden yellow silk satin over coarse linen (hemp?)-lined quarters and vamp, brown leather insole. Dogleg seam at quarters; back seam; each covered with brick-colored silk grosgrain ribbon, used to bind all the edges as well. White kid rand. No marks; resoled, 2 stamps, not ringed. Pair of cast and chased silver buckles supplied by dealer; small oval shape with the design suggesting large links joining lion masks at each quarter (T, B, R, L) Mark unintelligible.
