Description

Entirely hand-stitched infant’s shirt made of linen. Frog-hair stitches. Cobweb-fine linen cuff ruffles with minute-drawn thread work. Top stitching on shoulder seams. Buttonholes on each side of the cuff band. Minute hems. Exquisite workmanship. Note attached, handwritten on lined, glazed notepaper in what appears to be mid 19th-century handwriting: “108 years old-- worn by 8 children” Note pinned on long ago (pin is getting rusty).
