Description

One wooden post office box unit with 112 mailbox slots and 28 individual windows; windows are composed of leaded glass and are numbered or lettered in dark red paint.

Context

This object is believed by donor to have been used in the Altay Store of Altay, NY (Now at Genesee Country Village & Museum). The donor states that it was moved from the store when it was closed by Mr. Fenno and taken to the Kendall store which belonged to the donor's great grandparents. The unit was subsequently placed in storage, when the Altay, NY Post Office was closed.
