Description

Entirely hand-stitched short gown made with heavy [all MID] Z singles linen. Blue Z singles linen and cotton striped weft on Z singles white linen warp; plain weave. Fabric is speculated to have been handspun and handwoven. Seamed in the center back; elbow length sleeves in one with bodice. Casing-tuck all around waist with heavy plied white and tan linen cord drawstring. Moderately deep, slightly squared front neckline. No pleats. Small darts on top of shoulder to maintain fit. Neatly matched pieces at bottom of front sections. One piece at the center front is all linen with the same pattern as the yoke. Narrow strips of dark blue and white striped cotton homespun at under arm seams. Seems are a little short-waisted rather than high-waisted.
