Description

Entirely hand-stitched smock made of brown checked cotton. Full selvage width, knee length. Side vents with gussets, part of seam provided with placket opening at the pocket level on each side. Casing around a fairly wide neck with a similar gingham drawstring (Brown says is unusual and might be regional). Medium-full sleeves pleated onto the body, and into a cuff band which has a vegetable ivory button at the base. Narrow shoulder yoke with a gusset at the base of the neckline. The gusset is faced, and the other seams are overcast. Large underarm gusset. Placket down the center front.
