Pair of women’s shoes (possibly a girl’s as they are small), straights, high Louis heel arching smoothly into the sole with pointed, slightly upturned toe that seems to have an additional effect at the tip Conical vamp extending into square tongue faced with scraps of yellow brocade. Two latchets for buckle. Brocaded silk over kid lined quarters and linen lined vamp, brown leather insole. No evidence that they ever had a cloth lining. Dogleg seam at quarters; back seam; each covered with what appears to have been a gray silk ribbon, used to bind all the edges as well. White kid rand. No marks; 3 ring stamps. The brocade looks to have been a silvery or greenish gray ground with small copper-colored flowering branches meandering amongst abstract clouds of mist Applique strap of silver ribbon down centre, fastening by pair of straps and original oblong buckle of cut steel with two pairs of prongs over broad square tongue. Heel broad under instep, tapering slightly with broad base, covered in green silk damask.
