G2008.016Description
Pair of small child’s shoes made of pink silk taffeta lined with thin PW unbleached linen. The high, square tongue is faced with white silk. The edges are bound with matching silk ribbon, stitched with silk (MID). The sock appears to be pasteboard but it has in its matrix a very fine and evenly distributed glitter or sparkle! The soles and heels are made of layers of black felt (an old hat???!). They are straights with back seams, dogleg seams (both covered with ribbon) and latchets (which are pieced), and rounded sloping toes. The side seams are stitched with fine Z2S unbleached linen thread (MID). The soles are crudely stitched in place with heavy unbleached linen thread (MID), onto a decorative finit [?] tape around the front of the sole. These have been made with a minimum of finesse.5.5” longCollection
