Wooden handled adze.

Context

The adze is a tool that has been used since the stone age and it has has many uses. The bladed size of an adze can be used to trim and smooth wooden planks. It can also be used as a hoe in agriculture. The non bladed side of an adze is called a poll. On this adze there is a rectangular piece called a half poll that can be used to knock off tough parts of wood, or items like nails, that might cause damage to the blade.
