Description

A 1936 black and white photograph with a white border of Parker Lyon standing next to six large wooden horses he added to his collection at his Pony Express Museum in Arcadia, CA. The wooden horses, which were once used to display harnesses, were becoming difficult to find by the mid 1930s. Mr Lyon was going to place these the wooden horses among his collection of wooden Indians, old stage coaches, and other relics of past days in the Old West. Parker Lyon is seen standing with his white hat and holding a rifle in his right hand. He is looking over his left shoulder at one of his white wooden horses. The Pony Express Museum moved to Arcadia from San Marino in 1934 and was sold, and closed, in 1955. Note: both sides of photo have been scanned. The top of the reverse side has been unfolded in order to read the printing.
