Stanley Matthews House is located at 125 Fountain East. It is a Pivotal Structure. This house was the home of Judge Stanley Matthews who was one of the most influential citizens of Glendale. He was also a lawyer for the C.H.& D. Railroad. According to his grandaughter, Eva Cleveland, the house was known as "Oakencroft". There was a stable for horses and cows, vegetable gardens and an orchard. The entrance orginally faced east with a flight of stone steps to the front porch. The house was remodeled in 1900, 1920 and then again in 1927 by Mr. & Mrs. Roger Rogan. According to an article in Architectural Progress, May 1929, the wing of the house, as it was originally was built, dates to 1847. In 1927, the architect, John Henri Deeken, designed several additional wings to the building.
