The First Presbyterian Church, a Pivotal Structure, is located at 155 Fountain Avenue East.
The First Presbyterian Church was organized at a meeting in the Glendale Female College in 1855. In 1860, the members erected the first church to be built in Glendale. A second larger church with a nave, chancel and pipe organ was built in 1873 adjacent to the original structure. The church, designed by A.C. Nash reflects the Gothic Revival style of the original chapel. The exterior of the church was restored in 1973 exposing the original brick surface. Attached is an architectural evaluation of the sanctuary building written by Addison Clipson in 1973.Lexicon
