Scope and Content

St. Gabriel Church and Rectory, Pivotal Structures, is located at 48 Sharon Avenue West. The cornerstone of the Church was laid in the summer of 1859. Although Mass was said in the Church, the building wasn't finally until three years later. In 1864, the building of the residence begun. Four years later, a second story was added to the structure. The St. Gabriel's garage started as the temporary home of Christ Church around 1865. In 1868 it was sold to St. Gabriels's Church to be used as a school when the current stone Christ Church was built. The garage was razed in 2008.
