Scope and Content

The Willis Dooley Block, a Pivotal Structure, is located in the Village Square. This structure features a three story building with the address of 21 Village Square and the long attached wing of the building spans the remaining addresses between 23 and 29 Village Square. The structure replaced wooden commercial buildings destroyed by fire in 1880. The third floor of the corner building was used by the Glendale masonic Lodge until 1887. A round arched plaque bearing the words, "Masonic Hall : 1880", appears within the frontpiece. A tornado damaged much of the wing of the building in 1912.
