This house was originally occupied by F.M. Douglas, but its most notable resident was Florien Giauque. Upon Mr. Giauque's death, the house was bought by the family of Harry Whiting Brown. The Glendale Library was located in here until 1987. It also housed a community nurse office.
In 2008, the Glendale Community Library was established at Harry Whiting Brown by residents of Glendale.
