Scope and Content

Set of documents by Bill James Cook regarding the Mill Creek Presbyterian Cemetery The cemetery was located just north of the point at the meeting of Oak and Chester Roads, There were about 50 graves marked by plain field stones in the early 1900s. The cemetery came into being because of the killing of a scouting party of five men from Wayne's army. This area is known as Tucker's Station. A letter written to Harry Matthews in 1977 from Bill Cook gives more details about the history of the church including the fact that it split in the mid 1800s to form the Glendale Presbyterian Church and the Sharonville Presbyterian Church. The preacher always lived in the Eliza House. One preacher was Reverend John Morris and his wife Sarah Skillman. Rev. Morris gave up the church to fight against slavery. Members of the Morse, Perlee and Pendery familes are buried here. PDF version of documents attached to this record - click on Media button
