Interview with Mary Jane Schmidt (phone). Information about the Heher family Conversation with family member Mary Jane Schmidt on February 15, 2018 John James Heher was her grandfather. He served as Marshall in the early 1920s. His son was James John Heher. His sister Katherine was killed by the train on the old track that was replaced by the overpass. The family originally came from Ireland and its possible the original surname was O'Hare Her grandmother was Margaret Kelly, the family that owned Kelly's Tavern and then grocery store now the Grand Finale. Mary Jane owned and recently sold the block of stores at the corner of Sharon and Congress. Edna Pollard was connected to the Heher family. The family also owned and operated the dry goods store that was at 280 East Sharon (site of Addison Clipson's office.
