Scope and Content

This house originally stood on all the land along Sharon Avenue, Willow Avenue and up Fountain with the back line extending along Laurel Avenue. The house was originally occupied by Capt. Thomas J. Haldeman and his wife Sarah Ann Gilman.Their daughter married James C. Richardson who later lived in the house. According to an essay written by Angela Farin "The house was originally built by William B. Moores but was greatly improved by Captain Haldeman when he arrived in Glendale in 1867. The building is a large two story well finished brick edifice, with verandas embracing both the east and west fronts. The captain has spacious grounds, a fine view, beautiful lawn and fine gravelled drives."
