Scope and Content

Cash register facts: The cash register is a class 9, case A, Standard register built in 1900, shipped on April 9,1900 and sold new on April 27, 1900 to Jim (?) Stahl of Lawrenceburg, Indiana by P.?G. Starless (?) of Indianapolis, Indiana. It has a serial number of 202169 according to the label glued to the underside of the cash drawer. The stamped pattern on the case is described as Fleur-De-Lis and the register has a 30 key arrangement. The case is either cast iron or brass originally with a copper oxidized, CuO2 finish that has been painted silver after the information detail was ground off of the front of the case. The reason is unknown, however the identifying serial information is also stamped on the register internal frame. The brass "amount purchased" was left unpainted and is assumed to be original. The marble slab is broken because of the habit of salespeople opening rolls of coin by striking them on the slab to split the paper roll.
