Sheath Dress

Description

Dressy sheath dress beige crepe underskirt with open net cotton wear. Has a scoop neckline - reinforced cording of netting - sleeveless, collarless. Beige rib crepe underskirt. Full length dress. Length 38". Under crepe dress has shoulder straps 1/2" wide and square neckline - self fabric sewn down 1" in width. The open machine embroidered outer decorative sheath attaches 23" from hemline edge to hold outer skirt in place. There also is attached the outer embroidered open netting to shoulder straps 21" from hemline. Self hem 7-3/4" hand stitched may have been shortened at some time. Cotton lace netting is in four portions for front of dress - at center front is a 3" strap machine embroidered and crouching design that goes from neckline to hemline and same pattern repeats a hemline. 17-1/2" from edge of hem there is a band that is 5" in width that circles the skirt with crouch design and embroidery the same as center front panel. The remaining part of dress is in 4 parts. Open string work with circular hopsacking appearance in textured design. The back design of over dress has 2 bands of open neck continuing from front of crouching. Upper 19" of bodice top is open thread work with hopsacking design enlarged in size from center front square and repeats the lower third beginning the thread work below the band of decorative design and this is 14-1/2" in width. The circumference of skirt is 60". At shoulder line attached is a band of crouching at top again 4-1/2" at top and bottom and the dimensions of this is 25" X 26" at lower edge and is 16" at top and attaches at shoulder seams and hangs loose over shoulder.
