Description

Quilt with eight pointed star at center. The 1/2" edge is the overlap of backing of cotton print of flowers of muted red and white and flowers of two shades of tan on background of grey-green. The top and bottom along the 71" edge has border of grey fabric 6" wide. The 81" edge is bordered with grey fabric 4-1/2" wide. Tufts over patchwork and borders are of coral-colored yarn approximately 4", 5" and 6-1/2" apart. Patches which are essentially triangles with inner points squared off measure 19" along the long edge and 17-1/2" along the shorter edge. The design is comprised of diamond-shaped patches 8" x 3-1/2" with one-half diamonds (triangles) along the edges of the pattern of patches. The diamond patches are of seven printed fabrics with backgrounds predominately red with print of black, blue, grey, brown, red-brown plaid including various blues and black, and black with red and white print. The center is composed of eight patches of the black printed fabric to make an eight-pointed star. Bands of fabric along the grey borders of the short edges between the triangles measure 26-1/2" long and 2" wide.
