black straw bonnet trimmed with black organdy, black ribbon, black silk flowers and black jet pin. black velvet ribbon ties for under chin.

exhaustive long description from hardcopy: "black straw turn up brim, ladies bonnet- organdy black sheer folded in big light wavies on back top of brim; under brim has 2 black taffeta petaled flowers; black muslin stiffen with a sheer black organdy overlay in a gathered small ruffle; top of brim has black taffeta large bow which is seen from top and back of hat; taffeta ribbon circles in the fold of crown and brim; ribbon circles only 3/4" the way around crown and stops at organdy flower; organdy flower has flower set of brown cut cotton plush approx. 1/2" diameter. decorative straw crown is set in a circular pattern that repeats itself 1"apart; additional black organdy flower is placed on left side of hat at end of taffeta ribbon (flower would set above the ear of wearer); off-center back of hat is a 3" black onyx pin sewn on; width of pin in 1-3/8"; design is:faceted squares showning two dimensions of a box: 5 boxes to a side; center has a row of rosettes, faceted tiny balls and 8 pointed edge star; between the boxes crossing the center row of rosettes, balls, and stars is a short row of rosette, ball, star (center), ball and rosette 32" black velvet ribbon tie for ubnder chin, 1" width attaches to back of hat (4" apart)- 1878 Located with jewel black jacket with triangular bead-work. Bonnet crown is dented or waired to create saucer bonnet."
