Description

White silk (peau de soie) Wedding: 3 piece, bodice, skirt, underslip A) Bodice: Cotton lined with metal boning (11 stays in all); machine stitched 13 large hook and eyes down front; Design: Stand-up collar, shirred - lace at top of collar that turns down. Stain at collar line; puffed shirred long sleeves with ruffle edge down center of arm (3 ruffles in all) 2-1/2" ruffle cuff with lace trim; sleeve is longer on outside edge; self fabric epaulet on each shoulder with rows of lace plus one double row over epaulette: 65 horizontal small inverted pleats that begin at the shoulder and end at bottom edge of jacket- pleats are tapered beginning below the back yoke - there are 50 small inverted horizontal pleats: large center bow bottom center of back (approx. 6" in diameter). B) Skirt: Silk; 1 large hook and eye at waist; large gathers at back bustle area; back design begins with ruffle 17" down from waist and descends to 24" on each side; back ruffle train begins 30-1/2" down from top; side bottom ruffle is 10" down from top: it creates side of ruffle train; ruffle begins 26" from top in front; bottom front ruffle is 13" down from top begins front ruffle; all ruffles edged with lace, machine applies, each ruffle is double with part tacked up and part tacked down for visual effect; condition: tear and stain on train; stain on left side of dress. Clarification of design long train which begins short in front and angles to a deep train in back - the ruffle outlines the line. C) Underslip: Silk peau de soir, imported, machine stitched, hem very fine exaggerated scalloped edge; 21" drop from waistline begins 11-1/2" horizontal shirring at bustle area lace overlay additional 5 rows shirring; back closing of 13 small snaps; at top 14" rose lace and overlay; Condition: Stain on front of slip.
