Lady's Evening Sheath Dress of Gold Lamé and Gold Lace

Description

Gold metallic threads sheath lamé about 1920's with overlay of black net with woven gold metallic threads, done in a floral lace pattern in a rarity of designs. Square neckline with shoulder straps of gold lamé mesh fabric with black net overlay. Sleeveless. Length 40" and circumference of 45" hem 6-1/4" and weighted 5 different places - weight is 1" X 1-1/2" sewn in at hem. Overlay has 2 parts. The upper third of dress has a spiral circle at center and is 4" X 4". There is large flower with copper colored center shaped like a comma and a metallic thread looping in the shape of flowered edge and leaves beyond flower. At center front below spiral there are 3 petals that have a copper center and a repeat of same flower at other side seam location. On left shoulder strap is a large 3 dimensional orchid corsage of metallic thread of gold and sequins shaping large flower and additional stems with small iris shape stylize flower and additional leaves and petals on top.Approximate size 6" X 7". Large spiral circle on bodice and floral layer and third layer is spiral and repeats same shape at center front and is placed below gold flower with copper center. Similar repeats in back and center flower with copper center. Upper repeat is 17" in length. Open space of black netting is 42" long and circumference is 74". From hem 17" up is metallic gold and silvery center. Double line outlines scallop and gold thread of spiral circles begins at top and repeats with larger circle at second layer. Fourth layer has a copper centered flower and the copper, center flower. This row is cut out and attached by only a golden metallic band 1/8" wide. Lower edge has circles spiraled. Netting is machine stitched on and interfacing is feather stitched. There are 7 snaps on left side opening placket and length is 8-3/4" long and 1-1/2" in depth.
