Two Piece Dress made of Blue Velvet

Description

A - Bodice of navy blue velvet with tan taffeta stripes; style: long waisted fitted jacket. Center front opening with 8 iridescent beaded buttons. Stand-up collar of tan machine-made lace; back collar has 4" ecru lace 1" stand up and 3" lower portion lays flat on shoulders; center front has a deep blue satin set-in panel which extends from throat to waistline; velvet tie or royal blue and tan; both sides of front bodice have large lace scallops; lace is inserted 3" apart; to outline a scallop edge similar to skirt there are 6 lace repeats; Hemline of jacket is scalloped with 5" open ecru lace attached below and under the scalloped edge of taffeta extended underneath. Design: jacket is longer in back while shorter in front; Center back at waistline: large velvet ribbon bow with long ties; bow is surrounded with lace. Long tailored sleeves with decorative scalloped edge of sleeve at wrist. Underlayer of cuff is of blue velvet extended underneath is gather lace edged; a two toned mock bow is on outside of sleeve cuff; tan velvet belt wraps and closes in front. B - Bustle skirt of blue velvet and tan iridescent taffeta stripes two sections: under skirt and under slip; under skirt of heavy weight satin twill. Applied to under-skirt is a dress front panel of blue velvet and tan iridescent taffeta stripes. (18) at knee height at center a blue velvet and tan velvet bow attached with large streamers. Bow is formed 1/2 blue and 1/2 tan. Hemline is shorter in front; center length front is 38" from waist to hem; (1*) 5" width scallops of blue velvet and tan taffeta. Additional layer of under slip is pleated; under layer is attached below center bow on underneath portion of skirt - 5" pleats are hem - remaining layer is 4-1/2" weighted under hem. Overlay wrap attaches at the waistline. Thirty variegated scallops from 2" to 4-1/2" in width extend from waist to hem of outer layer and around back and finishes at waist on other side; smaller scallops at the waistline large scallops at hemline; scallops constitute the outer edge of the overlay. Overlay is underlined with stiff cotton gauze.
