Bodice and Skirt of Green, Yellow, Black and White Plaid Taffeta FabricDescription
A) Silk Taffeta green plaid fitted bodice. Seven homemade silk thread covered decorative buttons with an additional button pinned inside - center front length 15-1/2" long - hook and eye closing, 13 hooks and eyes front bodice 4" down from center front neckline self fabric yoke. Trim 1/4" width. Greenish yellow silk ribbon. Yoke 3-1/2"wide at shoulder line. Shoulder line seam is 5-3/4" long from neck to arms-eye. Lace is applied under silk ribbon - is homemade black lace of 1-1/4" width on bodice. The lace is very fine. There are two darts each bodice side - first one is 2-1/4" from center front and the second begins 3" from center front at waistline. Bottom of bodice hemline comes to a 'V' and it is 4-1/4" in length and 3-1/4" from center front. Replum flair separate pieces attached at approximately 2" below waistline. Peplum 9-1/2" X 4-3/4" bottom width. 8" X 3-1/2" X 6" across top. Five sided extended peplum outlined with black lace and green ribbon trim as with the bodice yoke. At the hip portion of flare which is 3-1/2" there are two homemade buttons, one at top and one at bottom. Wrist length fitted sleeve with exaggerated flare at wrist area. The sleeve is 23-3/8" long without lace. With lace it is 24-1/2". The top seam is 18". Underarm seam is 19-3/8" long. Sleeve decoration is a self fabric of two designs. One turn back of cuff trim 4" X 7" X 1" X 5-1/4". Outlined with a green ribbon and 3 homemade fabric buttons same as front also trimmed in homemade black lace on two sides (4" X 7"). Another attached self fabric to create flare 5" X 4" (4" pleated) length is 6-1/2" and width at bottom of flare will be 17-1/2". The flare is deepest at outside edge of sleeve and trimmed with black lace and green ribbon. Center back will be 23-1/4" and with lace 24-1/4". Bade yoke 3-3/4" from neckline to bottom of yoke and 5-1/4" to shoulder line and 3" on shoulder line to neck and neckline 2-3/8" - also trimmed with black lace continued from front. 12-3/4" front shoulder to shoulder. The bottom peplum comes down to a 'V' shape overlap self fabric. The center box pleat is 3-3/8 wide at lower edge. At waistline it is 2-1/2" wide. Two seam darts begin at top of box pleat and extends to middle of arms-eye 11" long. Second back dart is 2-3/4" at waistline from previous seam dart and is 7-1/2" long and ends up at underarm and is curved. It begins where decorative button and peplum are attached. Dart seam takes the place of side seam about 2" further back on back to a proper location on side seam. 14-1/2" length from attached peplum to center back seam and repeats on other side we create a center box pleat and one large pleat of 2-3/4" width to create flare and pointed back over bustle. Lace (black) and green ribbon trim continue to outline the bottom of bodice top. Complete bodice is hand-stitched.
B) Matching bustled green plaid taffeta (silk) 25-1/4" waistline - 1" self waistband machine stitched two hooks and eyes center back placket - opening at waistline 7/8" wide with the length of placket 9" and lower edge 2-3/8". Skirt has 22 box pleats center front pleats 1" to 1-1/4" wide. Pocket on left side of skirt. Side seams are 44" long. Center front of skirt is 46-3/4". Plaids do not match up on side seams. Large front panel and 5 gores. Front panel hemline will be 54-1/2" wide. Center front seam on second pleat. 13-3/4" wide right back gore and 23-1/4" center back and 14" side and one at 14-1/2" wide and glazed lining. Cotton corded hem machine stitched and 1/2" turned up attached to lining.
