- A series of letters to J.D. Dewes from W.A. Helsell, attorney at law, regarding a claim against J.W. Appleyard. The claim revolves around J.W. Appleyard's inability to repay a loan to J.D. Dewes and the foreclosure and repossession of an Appleyard Property. The property in question is likely a hotel owned and operated by J.W. Appleyard and his wife. W.A. Helsell and J.D. Dewes would continue working together after the conclusion of the claim against the Appleyards. These 12 letters are dated from July 4th, 1900 to March 31, 1903.
- A series of letters to J.D. Dewes from J.W. Appleyard concerning the claim against J.W. Appleyard. There are three letters the first is six pages and dated OCtober 4, 1900, the second is four pages and dated April 1901, and the last is one page and dated December, 1901.
