Glenview's Diamond Anniversary MontageDescription
A print montage of historic local scenes made to commemorate the Village of Glenview's 75th Birthday Celebration. Signed by the artist.Context
To help commemorate the Village of Glenview's 75th Birthday Celebration in 1974 an outstanding Glenview artist by the name of Bill Randall created a beautiful montage of historic local scenes. The original painting now hangs in the home of the Glenview Area Historical Society.
The National Suburban Directories, Inc. of Evanston reproduced the painting as the cover of their Local Telephone Directory 1974-1975 for Glenview-Golf-Northbrook with the caption "Glenview's Diamond Anniversary."
The author of this tale secured the negatives from NSD and induced a friend in the color printing business to reproduce 1,000 copies for the Glenview Historical Society. These beautiful prints were then given to all present and future members of the Society.
The artist personally signed about two hundred prints and these with around 300 other copies and the negatives are now in the hands of the GAHS.
