Bayonet and Case. a) 3-sided bayonet, b) Bayonet case. a) The object is a 3 sided brown bess socket bayonet. The blade on the bayonet is triangular in shape. A makers mark on the back near the base with 'John Gill' inscribed underneath.

Context

This is an example of a bayonet that would be affixed to the Brown Bess Musket; the musket was known to be used by the 100th Regiment of Foot soldiers during the War of 1812.
