Description

One stoneware pitcher vessel used by owner as a milk pitcher. The pitcher is cylindrical in shape with a slightly narrower top than base. Along the top edge of the pitcher on one side is a triangular shaped spout and on the opposite side of the spout is a round shaped handle affixed at two points on the vessel. The pitcher is decorated with a blue and cream coloured glaze, the cream colour is used on the body of the pitcher, and the blue coloured glaze is applied to the raised detail and pattern of the pitcher's decoration. The blue glaze is applied in a method that is thinner in some areas and thicker in others, making a faded effect. Along the top of the pitcher there is a floral border which has a rectangular textured bar below it. The centre of the pitcher has one large floral motif comprised of two flower blooms and a connected stem with four leaves. The bottom of the pitcher replicates the textured bar mentioned above and below that design there is a band of geometric repeating patterns around the circumference which is comprised of semicircle and diamond shapes.
