The painting shows the whitewashed log home which is two-stories in height, has a vaulted red-orange coloured roof, a central roof peak framing an upstairs window, and a small covered front porch at the front door. The left side of the house is visible with four symmetrical windows. The right side of the house has a covered porch which included the summer kitchen and gathering area for family. In front of the house is a driveway, white painted fence, and trees depicted with fall foliage. The right side of the scene is partially obscured by tree canopy, in the background is a natural coloured wood dairy barn with a vaulted rood and the roofline of an undisclosed outbuilding is visible behind the dairy barn.Context
