Name/Title

Tea Strainer

Entry/Object ID

NN0317

Description

The tea strainer is plated silver in the shape of a large acorn with a rounded cage and flat top lid. The chain is protruding from the center of the lid with a open hook at the end to hook onto the handle of a mug.

Context

Loose leaf tea is often more flavourful than tea in a prepared bag but it requires more effort to make. You start by placing a measured amount of tea into the infuser, which is then placed directly into your cup or teapot. Leaving the tea leaves in the water for too long risks a bitter, over-brewed tea so 3.5 minutes is a good estimate for brewing most loose teas.
