The front top of the postcard reads in red, "22 Parliament Buildings and Rideau Canal, Ottawa, Ont." The coloured image shows street cars, telephone lines, and the Rideau Canal locks with the Parliament Buildings behind. The back of the postcard has something crossed out along the top, and beside is the date the postcard was written, March 31, 1909. There is a cancellation stamp marking it passing through the Richmond post office on April 7, 1909. There is no postage stamp, but where one should be there is written, "April fool Myrtle." The postcard is addressed, "Miss Myrtle Davis Stapleton P.O. Ont." On the other side is the sender's message, who tells Myrtle that she shouldn't go too far away, "for there will be somebody lonesome."Lexicon
