France April. 22nd. 1917 Dear Mother:- Just a few lines to let you know everything is going fine, did you get my field card I sent about a week ago + my letter that I sent two or three days ago . It is hard to tell how our mail is going on account of us being in a different Batt. [abbreviated: battalion] + different division, I expect we get all letters addressed to the 73rd, but they will take some time to reach us. This is Sunday and is about the first Sunday we have had to ourselves I think since we came to France. We are waiting for the 13th. to come out of the line, so I don't what Co. [abbreviated: company] I will be in, or how we will be divided up, just happened to come to the Batt. [abbreviated: battalion] in a lucky time when they are in the line giving (2) us a couple of holidays. I guess the weather is getting nice + warm by this time, the roads will be about dried up. The last few days the weather here hasn't been bad, but one day will be nice + shunny [spelling error: sunny] while the following day it will be snowing, but it will surely soon settle down a little . I haven't had any word from Erv. [abbreviated: Ervie] lately. He is having a good rest , was pleased to see him going just before they started this drive. Say did Miss Doras ever get my letter I sent the day after Sid was killed? I guess George + the girls are busy going to school, as it will soon be time for the exams to start. With Love To All, Sefton. 13th Batt. [abbreviated: battalion] [redacted] # 145820.
