[Page 1 of 2] London. Feb 5th 1919 [abbreviated: February 5, 1919] Dear Mrs. Stewart. I meant to have written you long before this, but time slipped by & so many things happening, I was so pleased to get the photo of Sifton [spelling error: Sefton] and kept it as a surprise for Norman & had it framed on the mantle when he got home and I wish you could have seen his expression & heard his sweet soft and tender tone as he said taking it down to look closely at it, poor Sifton, [spelling error: Sefton] as he was so very fond of him, he says he is going to see you when he gets home, and then you will see him & understand why they were such good pals, It's just wonderful how Norman escaped all through and has been all through the Victory March to Germany & has just gone back to his Battalion, Sunday, after being on two weeks leave with me here, and is looking splendid, and may get home to Canada in the Spring, things are uncertain of course re their departure, and especially mine as I am not on the Soldiers Wives list where I could get through these channels so must 2 wait my turn as a civilian, as I came over on my own, but so long as Norman gets home to his father and grandmother & aunts who are longing to fuss over him, I am trying to be content with waiting, as I have so much to be thankful for. I am still working at Canteen as they are busier than ever, so much more leave granted to the soldiers since the Armistice was signed, it certainly was a great day all over the world, we are having a very cold winter here, and so many strikes and inconveniences everywhere, but I can manage to walk to canteen, so I do that but find it a lot coming home after working but must take things as they come I suppose. I trust this finds you & family in good health and thank you so much for sending me Sifton's [spelling error: Sefton's] photo, with best wishes for the New Year. I am sincerely Yours. AnnaBelle Catton
