[Front of Envelope] On Active Service. TORONTO. ONT. May 24 10:30 PM 1917 Mrs. Jas. Stewart, Richmond, Ont, Canada. [illegible] [Via] Ottawa OPENED BY [Back of Envelope] CENSOR 6203 RICHMOND ONT. MY25 [17] France, May, 3rd 1917. Dear Mother:- Just a few lines to let you know everything is O.K. Got a slight wound on the left hand, not bad enough to make hospital, but had to be inoculated, therefore I was sent out of the line for a few days. Have had no mail from home, since about 10th. April, but got a letter from Earl Nixon yesterday, written Mar. 25th. said the [crossed out: re] roads were full of snow then, & travelling was almost impossible. I never be anxious for mail, as I know you people must often be, of course I always (2) like to hear the local news, one thing I would appreciate now is a little money, as there are plenty of canteens around,. but every little article is a high price,. I suppose there will come a bunch of boxes together, there must be mail laid off somewhere being tranferred [spelling error: transferred] to another Batt. [abbreviated: Battalion] makes a lot of handling of mail before we ever see it. Did you get the mails I sent about a week ago?, also the Fritzy snaps I sent to George. I heard Arthur was wounded I hope it wasn't serious, have had no word from Ervie for about two weeks, he was then fine. The weather has certainly been very fine the last few weeks, hoping it continues, am in B. co [abbreviated: company] 13th. With Love To All Sefton
