Dear Mother:-
Rec'd [abbreviated: Received] your letter of June 28th. thanks very much for the five dollars, got it about a week ago but this really is my first opportunity of writing, did you get my field card? The money certainly comes very nice lately for we have been through some very fine towns, that is for to be so near the firing line.
You mentioned in your letter of sending some razor blades later on + asked if I ever received the others, well I did + I am pretty sure I told you of getting them, I rather think you don't get every letter I send, but the mail sure

makes good time under the circumstances. Did I tell you of getting a card from W. Brown shortly after the 207th. arrived also had a letter from Ervie about the same time, he hadn't been getting any letters from me whatever was the reason, that sure is very sad about Carrie Dobson's husband, am sure she feels very bad, have had no word from Earl for I don't know how long he mustn't have gotten my last letter.
You said in your letter that George had finished his entrance exams I do hope he gets through, is he wearing long trousers, I think he looks too old in them, should keep the shorts for a while yet.

It is really very hard to write any kind of a newsy letter. because as you know yourself that information is very limited. Was glad to hear of Evyleen passing into the [Jr.] fourth class she is doing fine, also Ivy + Norma.
The weather has been very changeable here lately, at present it is very warm, as it must around home too, suppose Pa + George are very busy at the hay, Pa will want to be careful + dont work too hard in the warm weather. Had a parcel from Gertie Mills the other day, also a letter a long time ago which I never answered I think I must have about fifty letters to answer. The other day I was surprised

to see Alex Madden, George would know him he used to work around Rich. [abbreviated: Richmond] knew he was over here but never ran across him before. The people are all getting cars around home it is a wonder you people don't get one they are so handy for getting over the road. Bob Green has got one eh? it is something awful the number of big motor lorries that are used over here. Where was the celebration held on the [12th]? Will write soon again.
With Love To All
