[Front of Envelope] BRITISH ARMY & NAVY LEAVE CLUB - PARIS O.F.S. [Post mark] ARMY POST OFFICE S 5 [illegible] 7 SP 17 [abbreviated: 7 September, 1917] Mrs. Jas. Stewart. Richmond, Ont. [abbreviated: Ontario] Canada. [Post mark] [illegible] FIELD CENSOR 8481 ""Via Ottawa"" [Back of Envelope] [Post mark] RIC [RICHMOND] SP 25 17 [abbreviated: September 25, 1917] ONT [abbreviated: ONTARIO] [Page 1 of 2] BRITISH ARMY & NAVY LEAVE CLUB - PARIS France, Sept. 7th, 1917 [abbreviated: September 7, 1917] Dear Mother:- Just a few lines to let you know everything is OK. hoping you are all the same at home, am now in Paris enjoying myself to the highest extent I tell you it is a fine city or ""Fr."" [abbreviated: French] ""tres bon"" [French meaning: very good] You can't imagine what it is like until visiting it. I suppose there is some mail awaiting me at Batt. [abbreviated: Battalion] H.Q. [abbreviated: headquarters]. I think I answered your last letter just before leaving. It is now Sept. [abbreviated: September] school will have started once more, wonder what teachers they will have this year. George will want to stick to school as much as possible if he knows what is good for him. guess the people are all through with the harvest, had they much rain this year? There (2) has been quite a bit of rain here this fall, which is going hard on the grain which is lying out there being such little help. Well mother you would never know there was a war on here, so we have forgotten all about it for the ten days. was going to cable for a little money but there was little satisfactory as some of the lads had been waiting ten & twelve days, however we are having a good time as we are. Is George taking the horses to the fair this year, how is Pa's leg was it hurt badly? Excuse short letters, have seen so much, don't know what to write. With Best Love To All. Sefton.
