Description

This object is a Land Deed Situate between Hiram Switzer and an unknown female whose name was unable to be determined due to the style of writing. It is dated to April 23 1895. The parcel of land in question is designated E1/2 Lot 6 Concession 8.The support is a cream coloured piece of paper. The medium is an elaborate handwritten black ink rendered in cursive; this was interpreted as handwritten through a comparison of the word "That" which appears repeatedly on the proper bottom right quadrant of the front. A red ink was used for administrative purposes, such as underlining, and decorative purposes, to create borders. There is also a single inscription in a handwritten blue ink located on the title page. The fields are filled in with a black, handwritten ink, rendered in cursive. All the text on the proper right half of the front, including the entire title page, is perpendicular to the primary body text as this object was intended to be folded into a brochure form for transport and storage. The words "This Indenture" are located at the top center of the proper left front page in a large decorative font. There is a rubber stamp imprint rendered in blue ink located at the proper top right corner of the front displaying 7 lines of script; the stamp's fields have been filled out with a black handwritten ink rendered in cursive. On the front proper left half there are three vertical lines which are comprised of thin parallel red lines; these extend the length of the proper left half. The proper right most vertical red line, near the center of the page, is comprised of five smaller lines, the middle vertical line is comprised of four smaller lines, and the line located at the proper leftmost is comprised of three smaller red lines. There are also two horizontal red lines which are made of smaller red lines that run the length of the proper left half of the front. The topmost line is comprised of four smaller lines and located at the top, the lower horizontal line at the bottom is comprised of three horizontal lines. There are five red seals located on the proper bottom right of the back in a vertical alignment. The seals resemble a cog with pointed teeth. On the back of the page there are five vertical and two horizontal red lines; the horizontal lines extend across the entire width of the page. The vertical line at the proper leftmost is comprised of four smaller lines. The remainder of the vertical lines are comprised of three lines. There are three vertical lines on the proper left half of the back and two on the proper right half. The horizontal red line located at the top of the back is comprised of four smaller lines, the lower horizontal line at the bottom is comprised of three horizontal lines.
