Description

This object is a mortgage agreement between Hiram Switzer and Johnston B. Elliott. It is dated January 3, 1900. It concerns two parcels of land designated F1/2 E1/2 Lot 6 Concession 8 and the SW1/4 Lot 5 Concession 8. The support is a tan/cream coloured paper. The medium is a black printed ink. Red ink was used for underlining words, as well as for decorative borders. The words "This Indenture" are located at the top of the proper left front page in a large decorative font. The title page, located at the proper right top quadrant of the front, is perpendicular to the primary text as this object was intended to be folded into a brochure form for transport and storage. There is also a significant amount of handwritten text located at the proper top right corner of the front which does not appear to be directly associated with the body text; this is rendered perpendicular to the primary body of text. An additional body of text on the lower proper bottom right corner of the front is also perpendicular to the primary body of text. There is a blue rubber stamp imprint in the proper bottom right corner of the front containing 7 lines of script; the fields of the stamp have been filled in by hand with a blank ink, rendered in cursive. The stamp is perpendicular to the primary body of text. On the front proper left half there are three vertical lines which are comprised of thin parallel red lines; these extend the length of the proper left half. The proper right most vertical red line, near the center of the page, is comprised of five smaller lines, the middle vertical line is comprised of four smaller lines, and the line located at the proper leftmost is comprised of three smaller red lines. There are also two horizontal red lines which are made of smaller red lines that run the length of the proper left half of the front. The topmost line is comprised of four smaller lines and located at the top, the lower horizontal line at the bottom is comprised of three horizontal lines. There are two red seals located at the bottom right corner of the back. These are arranged vertically. The seals are shaped like a cog with pointed teeth. On the back of the page there are five vertical and two horizontal red lines; the horizontal lines extend across the entire width of the page. The vertical line at the proper leftmost is comprised of four smaller lines. The remainder of the vertical lines are comprised of three lines. There are three vertical lines on the proper left half of the back and two on the proper right half. The horizontal red line located at the top of the back is comprised of four smaller lines, the lower horizontal line at the bottom is comprised of three horizontal lines.
