2014.7.33.4Description
This object is a tan envelope made of a sheet of paper which has been folded into shape. It is held together with an unknown adhesive. There are three inscriptions handwritten on the front in pencil, rendered in cursive. At the center it reads "Mr. George Stewart, Richmond, Ont. Canada". At the proper bottom right corner it reads "Via Ottawa". At the top center of the front it reads "On Archive". An additional, illegible, inscription is rendered in blue ink at the proper bottom right corner of the front; this blue inscription is underlined and appears upside down in relation to the envelope. At the proper top right corner is a printed black and red Y.M.C.A. logo. At the proper top left corner of the front there is a brown rectangular two-cent postage stamp which bears a lateral profile of a male face, facing to the proper right. There are four rubber stamp imprints on the front rendered in black ink. At the proper bottom left is an oval containing the words "PASSED FIELD" and a crown in the center. At the top center is a circular stamp with the words "TORONTO ONT" within. At the proper top left corner there is a circular stamp with the words "FIELD POST" at top; this circular stamp is overlain by a rectangular stamp in which the word "FREE" appears roughly centered, along with horizontal lines to the proper left. The horizontal lines of the rectangular stamp overlie the postage stamp.
There is a single stamp on the back rendered in black ink located at the top with a proper-right bias. It presents as a circle with the word "RICHMOND" at top.Subject Person/Organization
