Description

This object is a fragment of a newspaper. The name of the publication is unknown as only this fragment is held in the collection. The clipping is a list of battlefield casualties who were killed in action. The list provides names and the military I.D. of the casualties. The support is a tan colored lightweight newspaper. The medium is a black printed ink. There are two inscriptions. The first at the proper right edge of the text block contains a "{" and the text "13 Btn. probably"; it is executed in black ink and rendered in handwritten cursive. The second inscription is a pair of square brackets which occur at the end of one line of text and at the beginning of the succeeding line of text. The brackets and words within read "[Stewart, 145820 S. I.]".

Context

This object is significant as it belongs to the Sefton Stewart Collection; a series of objects pertaining to Private Sefton Stewart of Richmond who fought, and was killed, in the First World War.
