Description

First World War shaving set made from green canvas; set includes a toothbrush, straight razor, and shaving brush. The toothbrush is made from white plastic; text written on the handle reads: "168 THE SANITARY WARRANTED PERFECT." The razor is contained in a rectangular box with "LANDERS FRARY & CLARK WARRANTED. NEW BRITAIN CONN. U.S.A" written on the front; the same inscription appears on the razor blade. The handle of the shaving brush is made from wood and metal; "C.B. CO 1915" is embossed on the surface. A rectangular seal has been stamped on the canvas, on the inside of the outer flap; it contains two lines of text, the first one reading "PEABODY'S." Set belonged to the donor's father, Robert A.L. Hill of Munster.
