Description

This rectangular shaped frame contains an off-white coloured paper with the title "Richmond." The text on the document is written in blue coloured ink and appears to have been written by hand in a calligraphy style. The document text is as follows; "Richmond. The 'military settlement of Richmond' was settled in 1818 by the families of officers and soldiers from the war of 1812. It took its name from the Duke of Richmond who became Governor General of the British Colonies of North America in 1818. The Municipal Corporation of the Village of Richmond was enacted in 1850 and remined as such until its incorporation into the Goulbourn Township in January 1974. It is a centre serving the surrounding rural community and with its large residential development provides a workforce to the Ottawa area." On the reversed side of the frame a white fabric string is attached for hanging.
