The front of the card reads, "IDENTIFICATION DATA" "FULL NAME Elroy McCooeye" "ADDRESS" blank line, "CITY Stittsville PROV Ontario." Roy McCooeye's career was with the National Research Council and he was a volunteer firefighter. Since these positions took him all over he joined the RCAF Ground Observer Corps (GObC). The GObC was a civilian organization within the Royal Canadian Air Force formed in October 1950 to help identify intruder aircraft before the Pinetree Line radar network was fully operational. Members were required to report any sighting of an aircraft with four or more engines via Forces-supplied radios. The organization was disbanded in the late 1950s.Collection
