Button with attached ribbon advertising the 150th anniversary of the County of Carleton Loyal Orange Lodge. The celebration was hosted at Stittsville, Ontario on July 13, 1998. The object consists of a circular shaped button located at the top, which is made of a metal base and pin on the reverse, the front of the button has a orange background with blue text at the top which reads, "PROUD TO BE ORANGE", there is a central drawing of a male figure, holding a sword pointed forward, while seated on a horse that has reared up with two front legs off the ground. The male figure is presumed to be the Dutch-born Protestant King William of Orange, who defeated Catholic King James II in the Williamite-Jacobite War. At the bottom of the button is written, "CANADA" in blue coloured block text. To the reverse of the button is attached a long orange ribbon which extends vertically below the button. The orange fabric ribbon is decorated with screen printed blue block text which reads, "150th Anniversary 1848-1998 County of Carleton Loyal Orange Lodge Orange Celebration Stittsville, Ontario July 13, 1998." The reverse of the button and ribbon components are undecorated.Context
