Description

Handmade shadow box made of wood and painted in a high gloss navy blue paint. The shadow box has a glass front and orange coloured fabric backing board inside the box. There are eight CAN/AM hockey tournament medals mounted horizontally across the width of the box. The left six medals are circular pendants attached to a blue, red and white ribbon which has been folded in half and attached to the backing board at the top of the ribbon. The medal has a blank back, on its face it reads, "Challenge Cup" "CAN/AM" with an image of two individuals playing hockey in the foreground with a Canada and United States of America flag in the background. The two medals on the right most side are mounted vertically, one above the other. They are rectangular in shape with rounded corners, have a blank back and on the front they read, "Challenge Cup" "CAN/AM" "Lake Placid". The image on the face of the two medals consists of two individuals playing hockey in the foreground with a Canada and United States of America flag in the background.

Context

John Leroux of Stittsville, Ontario. Prominent member of the Goulbourn community, recognized for his involvement with the Canadian Armed Forces in Korea, Goulbourn Township as parks manager, Royal Canadian Legion and poppy campaign involvement, and with sports - hockey, ball, and boxing.
